Nigeria under 17 Women-History was made as the Nigerian Flamingo earned their first-ever semi-finals at the Under 17 FIFA women’s world after they defeated the United States. The match ended in 1-1 and the Nigerian team defeated the United States after a penalty shootout that ended in 4-3.
As Nigerians celebrate this amazing development, a video that shows the team celebrating their victory by chanting “Obi” has sparked lots of reactions on social media.
In the video, the team could be seen in the locker room chanting “Obi kerere nke” as they dance in celebration of their victory. Nigerians have so far reacted differently to the video after it surfaced online. Mixed reactions also trail as the victory song was attached to a presidential candidate.
Ojujuwon Ajayi wrote;
“Kekerenke obi is a song that have been singing over 30 years since I gained admission to my secondary school in Ibadan, we use to sing it when we go for football matches.”
