Manchester United have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of their Europa League match with Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday night, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek returning to training at Carrington. Wan-Bissaka, Maguire and Van de Beek could soon be available for selection after the trio were put through their paces on Tuesday morning, having previously been restricted to individual work.

Maguire’s form at club level over the past year has been inconsistent but he continues to remain a key player in the squad. Erik ten Hag recently said that he needs to get the best out of him. The injury to Varane offers a chance for Maguire to redeem himself in the coming weeks. With six more matches before the mid-season interval, it is likely that Ten Hag will rotate his central defensive pairing. Meanwhile, Maguire’s return is also a boost for England ahead of the World Cup. Wan-Bissaka on the other hand will be aiming to get back into the first team, he has spent only four minutes on the pitch this season after falling down the ranks in Erik ten Hag’s favour since his arrival.Diogo Dalot has cemented his place in United’s starting eleven and looks set to be the first choice in the position for the foreseeable future. As for Van de Beek, the former Ajax midfielder has been restricted to 19 minutes on the pitch this term.

Van de Beek is yet to enjoy the revival many had hoped for with Erik ten Hag after dismal spells under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. However, he has been promised chances by Ten Hag moving forward.
